Difficulties faced by developing countries like India
In the countries like India, Water Supply Schemes are typically designed for 24×7 operations. Usually these designs are based on the surveys and the primary data and designed using Hydraulic Modelling Software.
Once the design is done, the contractor constructs the Water Supply Scheme (WSS) through a competitive bidding process. The contractor operates the Scheme for a specific period, which is defined in the contract. Afterwards the WSS is handed over to the Government Bodies for operation and maintenance.
