Recently, we installed a Shaft at Sherajhar (Shitalpani), Bajag Taluka, Dindori District, Madhya Pradesh, funded by WaterAid India.
We have retrofitted a dysfunctional water supply system using an hashtaginnovative shaft-based water supply approach. The approach approach is hashtaglow-cost with hashtagclimate-resilient infrastructure!
In a hashtagremote location where households had been without access to piped water supply for years, our efforts have now ensured a hashtagreliablewatersupply to the community. This was made possible thanks to the tireless dedication of our engineer and WaterAid India field team, who traveled 70 km to and fro daily to oversee progress on-site. …………..

The situation described in the passage involves two villages, Vehale and Sarang, in the Bhiwandi Tehsil of Thane district. These villages receive bulk water supply from STEM Water Distribution and Infrastructure Co. Pvt Ltd. However, direct tapping from the air valve resulted in significant headloss and affected the water supply to both villages. To address this issue, Ajivam Water Pvt. Ltd (AWPL), an IIT Bombay startup, proposed the installation of a manifold at the tapping point. …………….
