IIT Bombay IP for Efficient Water Distribution System.

Problems

  • WSS failure in India is not due to single reason.
  • Numerous reasons form a Vicious cycle of WSS failure in India.

Opportunities

  • Rural part of India – 18% household connections.
  • Urban part of India – 64% individual and stand post connections.
  • Supply hours – 1 to 6 hours, NRW – more than 50%.
  • Government of India, has launched National level missions like Jal Jeevan Mission (Rural and Urban) and AMRUT-2.

Main competition and their limitations

  • The existing design consultants, which provide routine solutions for improvement in water management.
  • The solutions are suitable for developed countries, high O&M cost.
  • Based on thorough understanding of field conditions and operational hydraulics, we will be providing low-cost interventions for improving WSS, which will be suitable in the Indian context and many other such countries with the same socio-economic conditions.
  • Shaft, Multi outlet storage tanks, Manifold, Pipe in pipe.
  • Holistic approach will be adopted to improve efficiency of WSS in India

Following tasks will be done by the proposed company

  1. Studying the existing city water supply system and field measurements in a unique approach.
  2. Analyzing the city water supply systems with unique hydraulic modeling analysis.
  3. Fabrication of low-cost interventions and implementing them.
  4. Operation of the water supply systems after implementation of solutions with a new schedule.
  5. Documenting the post-performance.
